We're a small deals site. We keep as little about you as we can, we don't sell it or share it, and we don't use it for ads. Here's everything we keep, and why.

Just looking around

There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking scripts here, and we don't set any cookies until you sign in.

Like nearly every website, our server logs each request it gets: your IP address, the page, the time and your browser. We use the logs to keep the site running and to stop abuse.

Product pictures come straight from the shops' own servers, so a shop can see that one of its pictures was loaded, and by which IP address and browser. We tell your browser not to say which of our pages it was on.

Clicking through to a shop

When you click a deal, we note the click: when it was, which offer, where on our site you clicked it, the page your browser says you came from, and the name your browser gives itself (its "user agent"). If you're signed in, or the link was in one of our emails, we note your account and the alert too. We don't keep your IP address.

Then we send you on to the shop with the click's number attached, so that if you buy something, the shop's affiliate network can tell us which click it came from and pay us. When it does, we keep the date, the amount, our commission and that click number. The click number is all we send the shop about you.

Once you're on the shop's site, the shop and its affiliate network may set cookies of their own, to credit us for the sale. Their privacy policies cover that.

Signing in

You sign in with just your email address: we email you a link, and there's no password. Asking for a link makes your account, even if you never use it. For your account we keep your email address, when you joined, when you last signed in and how often you want alerts.

A sign-in link works once, within an hour. Using it sets one cookie, called "session", which keeps you signed in. It's only ever sent to our site, and scripts on the page can't read it. We keep only a scrambled (hashed) copy of each link and session, so not even we can use them. A session ends when you sign out, or after 30 days without a visit.

Watches and alerts

When you watch something, we keep what it is (a product, a category or a search), the price and condition you're after, and the alerts it finds. We use them to email you about deals, and to pick the deals we show you when you're signed in.

Removing a watch stops it for good. We keep its record, because its alerts and clicks point to it, but it isn't used any more.

Email

We only email you the sign-in links you ask for and the alerts your watches find. No newsletters, and we never give your address to anyone else. To stop alerts, remove your watches on My watches, or write to us and we'll stop all our emails to you.

Who sees it

We don't sell, rent or share what we keep. It's stored on our own server, and the only others who handle any of it are the mail service that delivers our emails, and anyone the law makes us give it to.

How long we keep it, and deleting it

Sign-in links and sessions are cleared away after they expire. Everything else we keep while your account is open. We need the click and sale records for our accounts, so we keep those, but if you close your account we take you out of them.

Email privacy@opwernby.com from the address you sign in with, and we'll send you a copy of what we hold about you, correct it, or close your account and delete it. We'll answer within 30 days.

Children

The site isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly keep anything about them.

Changes

If this changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
